A new website and look for game developer Hazelight

About the project

Hazelight is a Swedish game development studio founded in 2014 by film director–turned–game director Josef Fares, who is behind the critically acclaimed titles A Way Out and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. They reached out to us as it was time for a completely new website, additional brand work and photography to coordinate with the first glimpse at their upcoming adventure platformer It Takes Two.

Wireframing/Prototype

We began with developing website wireframes to help us visually organize content and review the visual hierarchy of the elements on all pages. As our wireframes also act as interactive prototypes to which we invite the client, it's easy for all of us together to bounce ideas around before moving on to the final design stage.

DESIGN

Hazelight is not your typical game developer, and as the project landed on our table, we knew that this had to be fundamentally mirrored onto its digital space as well. This was, among other things, achieved by blending big and bold typography with playful animations and page transitions, a fluid smooth scroll experience, and also by incorporating an interactive background that responds to your mouse movements.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Eighteen portraits were taken in total with additional studio lifestyle shots, and we also provided editing and grading work for the hero area video clips. All this was achieved with the help of our very talented collaborator and go-to photographer Felix Sjödahl.
